Launched by the non-profit organisation Brussels Sculpture Festival VZW, the Sculptura festival aims to promote contemporary sculpture and installation in the Brussels region and beyond. After the first event in 2023, which brought together around twenty artists, this second year is more ambitious and expanding into public spaces. As well as the exhibition at Gare Maritime, the programme includes a sculpture park on the Tour & Taxis site and exhibitions in various venues in the Belgian capital.

The 2024 festival has been recognised as an official cultural activity under the Belgian presidency of the Council of the European Union. It offers the public the chance to discover the works of some 40 European artists brought together under the theme “Art moves, art connects”.

Czech artist Pavlína Kvita will display two monumental glass fiber reinforced concrete sculptures: Big Creature and Guardian. These two recent creations perfectly illustrate her sculptural work, which seems to be in a constant state of transformation and transition from one form to another, from one state to another: from immobility to movement, from zoomorphic to anthropomorphic expression, set between futuristic visions and figures from ancient times.
