Buyer FAQ

(1) Artworks for sale

As its name suggests, a unique piece is a one-of-a-kind work of art. For a cast sculpture, it can only be deemed unique if the mold was destroyed after the piece was cast, making it impossible to produce any replicas of the original piece.

Yes, every piece of art sold on Artistics is signed by the artist. The artworks are also delivered with a certificate produced and signed by the artists themselves.

In the case of pieces created using a reproducible method (cast sculpture or ceramics, photographs), a limited edition means that the artist has only produced a small number of replicas. For example, if a bronze sculpture is produced in an edition of eight, it means that only eight sculptures were made from the same mold. The number of pieces is stated on the description page for each work in the “Edition” line.
For more information on foundry art editions (sculpture), we suggest you read the code of art foundry ethics, a reference document drawn up by Les Fondeurs de France in collaboration with the French sculptors’ union (Syndicat des sculpteurs) and the professional trade associations representing French auctioneers (Chambre nationale des commissaires-priseurs) and art galleries (Comité des galeries d’art), all of which approved the guidelines in 1993.

Artistics works directly with the artists whose works are shown on the website. Each piece is signed by the artist and shipped with a certificate of authenticity.

All the art sold on Artistics is signed by the artist. If applicable, the number of prints or casts is stated to the right of the work in the “Edition” line of the description.

We strive to publish nothing but high-quality photos that portray the appearance and colors of each work of art as faithfully as possible. For works offered in limited editions (sculpture, ceramic or photography), there may be very minor differences from one piece to the next.

For bronze sculptures, it is possible that the piece is not on hand in the artist’s studio because it must be cast by the foundry. In that case, it may take four weeks to three months to create the sculpture. Indeed, casting a bronze entails many stages of production that you can learn about in this short video filmed at Fonderie Fusions in Auvergne (France).
When it comes to photographs, it is also possible that the prints have not yet been made or that they still need to be mounted. In that case, the turnaround time will be approximately five business days for a simple print and up to two or three weeks to print, then mount and/or frame the photograph.

Just create an account on the Artistics website, then follow your preferred artists by clicking on the “Add to favorites” button on their profile page. After that, you will receive email notifications whenever the artist adds new pieces to their portfolio.
In addition, if you would like to receive more general news about our artists and Artistics, you can subscribe to our newsletter.

The art sold on Artistics comes straight from the artists’ studios. Framing is a personal choice made by each artist. We encourage you to carefully read the description of the work that you are considering: this paragraph always states whether the work is sold framed or not. If the work is not framed, Artistics can assist you in choosing a frame and coordinating framing services from its partners. If you select this option, you will be billed for the additional cost of framing.

(2) Ordering

The price of each work of art is set by the artist, with Artistics’ input and approval.
The price of each piece is given in euros and dollars: it includes VAT (value added tax) for purchases made within a member country of the European Union.
If the art is shipped to a country outside the EU, the VAT will be deducted from the total order amount in your shopping cart after you enter the delivery address.

Yes. Generally speaking, orders should be placed online using the shopping cart. However, if you encounter any problems when placing your online order and need help from an adviser, we are at your disposal from Monday to Friday, between 9 am and 7 pm (GMT+1), at +33 (0)1 40 28 92 28.

You have a legal right of retraction that is valid for fourteen (14) clear days from the time you receive the order. To exercise this right, we simply require that you 1) send an email to contact@artistics.com and include the order number in the subject line, and 2) return the piece in its original packaging. We will send a carrier to pick up the piece at the shipping address and we will cover the return shipping fees. You will be reimbursed for the order amount no more than fourteen (14) days after we have received the work in perfect condition.

Shipping fees, which are billed to the buyer, are indicated in the shopping cart after you have entered and confirmed the shipping address. The fees are determined according to a scale that depends on the dimensions and weight of the artwork ordered, the address of origin (usually the artist’s studio) and the shipping address (which you provide). Sometimes the shipping fees are perceived as high, but please be assured that we do our best to obtain the best combination of value for money and security. We work with the most respected carriers on the market, including FedEx and DHL.

Yes. Artistics insures each shipment under a policy that covers the risks of loss or damage to your order while it is being transported to the shipping address you provide. The cost of this insurance is included in the shipping fees. If your order is damaged upon delivery, you should flag the issue with the carrier, then contact us at +33 (0)1 40 28 92 28 so that we can respond as quickly as possible.

(3) Taxes and Customs Duties

For an order shipped from an EU member country to the same country or to another EU member country, the total amount of the order includes all taxes owed by the buyer.
If the order is shipped from or to a non-EU member country, your invoice does not include taxes. Any customs duties, local taxes or import duties are the buyer’s responsibility. As such, we encourage you to contact the relevant authorities in your country of residence to obtain more information.

All parcels from a country outside the European Union must be cleared through customs; additional taxes and customs duties may apply, and you must pay these to local authorities so that your parcel will be released.
Unfortunately, we cannot track real-time changes to the customs policies of all the countries to which we ship orders. Therefore, the amount of your invoice is understood to be “excluding any customs duties”.
To learn more about the tax scheme that applies to artworks imported to your country, we suggest that you contact the relevant customs authorities. As a rule, the carrier pays customs duties and taxes on your behalf when the order is shipped.
For your information, we cover some of the basics below. To learn more, we refer you to the TARIC database (Taxation and Customs Union).

(1) Shipment from the European Union to the European Union: no customs duties because we are covered by a common customs territory.

(2) Shipment from the European Union to a country outside the European Union: check with the customs authorities of the non-EU country.

(3) Shipment from a non-EU country to the European Union: no customs duties are applied to original works of art produced by living artists.

(4) Shipment from a non-EU country to another non-EU country: check with the customs authorities of the countries concerned.

(4) Shipment and Delivery

We work with the most respected carriers on the market, including FedEx and DHL, to offer you the best service at the best price.

The international carriers with which we work, including FedEx and DHL, deliver to more than 200 countries and territories around the world. Thus, your country is probably one of the covered areas. If that is not the case, please email us at contact@artistics.com so that we can find a solution.

We will send you an email at each stage of order processing:
• As soon as you confirm your order, you will receive an initial email acknowledging that we have received the order.
• You will receive a second email when the parcel is picked up by the carrier. That email contains a tracking number that enables you to monitor the progress of your order directly through the carrier’s website.

Our shipping times depend on two factors:
• Order preparation time: this is the number of days it takes the artist to ready the work for pick-up by the carrier.
• Transit time: this is the number of days it takes the carrier to transport the work to the delivery address.

Order preparation times vary by artist and by type of work.
General guidelines:
• Paintings, drawings and ceramics: the preparation time ranges from one to five working days.
• Sculptures: the preparation time ranges from one to five working days, EXCEPT for bronze sculptures if the edition ordered has not yet been cast. In that case, the production time can range from four weeks to three months.
• Photographs: the preparation time ranges from one to five working days, EXCEPT if the print has not yet been made or must be mounted/framed. In that case, the turnaround time will be approximately five business days for a simple print and up to two or three weeks to print and mount and/or frame the photograph.

Transit times vary depending on the country of shipment and the country of delivery.
For artists working in France, allow one to five business days for delivery in France and allow one to 15 business days for shipment to Europe or other international destinations. Naturally, this period runs from the date on which the artist makes the piece available (i.e., it begins after the preparation time described above).

Orders are usually shipped one to five business days after your order is confirmed. This turnaround time includes the time required by the artist to prepare the order, which varies by work.
As soon as the carrier picks up the parcel containing your order, you will receive a confirmation email with a tracking number you can use to check the status of your shipment by logging in to the carrier’s website.
