The Reclaiming

In her latest series, Reclamation, British artist Gina Soden shows us the triumph of nature as it reclaims territories abandoned by man. The central theme of this selection revolves around the idea of a resilient, even conquering nature.

Our position suddenly appears more modest, our presence more fragile and our achievements more precarious. Meanwhile, the most ordinary of natural objects, such as a pod, a nutshell or a rock, can take on a spectacular appearance through a change in scale or a poetic twist that compels us to reevaluate our surroundings. This “revelation” even extends to the almost complete disappearance of the artwork when it becomes the impressionistic mirror in which nature reveals its ever-moving, ever-transforming face.
