FIAC : The week of madness
After London it’s Paris’ turn to welcome the world of contemporary art. Through the FIAC, the capital is proposing a program for the art buffs that should waken the mind. Our selection…
MONDAY
This is probably one of the most significant events of this crazy week, it has been talked about for several months and it should replenish conversations in the next few days: The inauguration of the Louis Vuitton foundation next to the jardin d’acclimatation in Paris. Part of LVMH president Bernard Arnault’s contemporary art collection will be housed there in a building designed by architect Frank Gehry. Those not fortunate enough to be invited to the opening will have to wait till the 27th of October, the official date it opens to the public.

From TUESDAY to THURSDAY
For three days, the different On and Off fairs play tag with each other and open their doors to collectors, before the official opening to the general public. Honouring the most recent arrival, (Off)icielle, the FIAC’s new event “focused on the principle of discovery”. Preview Tuesday 21 October from 3pm-9pm (invitation only. )
The same evening , it’s the opening of ‘Slick’ which, for this its 9th edition, brings together about thirty galleries and offers a space called “La Plateforme” presenting 10 or so projects by emerging artists.
The day after is the opening of the FIAC with this year 191 galleries all under the glass dome of le Grand Palais, and ultimately Thursday the YIA Art Fair. This 4th edition, the “contemporary art fair committed to emerging scenes in Paris” presents 65 galleries at the Carreau du Temple.
