Representation and figurative art
“There is no figurative or non-figurative art. All things are seen in figure forms,” said Picasso. Figurative art is by definition a way of representation satisfying the theories of imitation. If art imitates nature, figurative art illustrates the world in a realistic way through all kinds of medium: from painting to cinema, sculpture to drawing. By virtue of its universal character, figurative art is an aesthetic generic category that has descended through the history of art, before being against abstract art from the 20th century onwards, without it being overshadowed elsewhere.
Artistics figurative art
Artistics is an online art gallery bringing together around fifty contemporary artists whose common denominator is technical mastery. We would like to showcase a varied palette of styles and artistic trends, as well as several creative techniques through the three mediums of sculpture, painting and photography. These three mediums of expression are the gallery’s artists chosen way to create their artwork in the listings of figurative art. Innovation and originality are also qualities that our online contemporary art gallery appreciates.
Nos artistes en art figuratif
High standards, boldness and diversity are values our team as well as our artists are aligned with. They are at the heart of our artists’ work, and guide the way they approach the immense field of figurative art, producing contemporary artworks. Guillaume Chansarel reinterprets New York thanks to his near hyper-realistic figurative painting. Brad Wilson photographic work, for example, is a menagerie of over a hundred different of animals far from figurative, they only become real figurative artworks after their time in front of a lens. Animals also make artist Pierre Yermia an ambassador of figurative sculpture at our online art gallery.
