Celestial Landscapes

Empty or inhabited space?

The sky is an essential theme in the history of art, and is the focus of this collection, be it a daytime or night sky, a leaden or cloudless sky, a naturalistic representation or a hazy echo in an abstract composition. The sky is so prevalent in our imagination that a simple horizontal line is often enough to evoke it.

The works in this selection reflect the diversity of these perspectives. Somewhere between physical and metaphysical space, the sky is a blank yet loaded canvas, onto which we project our most intimate emotions and in which we read the universality of our human condition.
