September inspiration: building

Artists are builders. This collection brings together six of the gallery’s artists whose work revolves around architecture, space and its use.

Delphine Brabant‘s abstract sculptures, composed of an assemblage of simple shapes, draw directly on the vocabulary of construction. Alejandro Vega-Beuvrin‘s work draws on the same source, but concentrates on a single type of precarious and unusual structure: barricades. Francesca Bernardini explores the symbolic architecture of the animal world: nests and cocoons. Simcha Even-Chen is interested in the mechanical qualities of porcelain, through which she puts forward a language of organic and free forms. Ramon Enrich creates built landscapes from scratch, using a reduced alphabet of forms and a great sense of staging. As for Bruno Fontana, he isolates buildings to emphasize their sculptural quality, or multiplies architectural elements to the point of saturating the surface of his prints in order to provoke reflection on our contemporary living conditions.
