About the work :

Transire is a painting by the German contemporary artist Emanuel Schulze.

Oscillating between figuration and abstraction, this work of art represents architectural elements that stand in an enigmatic landscape made of cold and winter colors. This painting immerses the spectator into a dreamlike universe devoid of human presence. In order to give depth to this painting, the artist plays on its reflections. The geometric structures are reflected on water or ice and anchor themselves in the canvas to become, according to the artist, "islands of the landscape". The artist also uses a random flow of paint, a technique that he dearly appraises and that is clearly identifiable in this painting.

Also a stage designer, Emanuel Schulze takes a particular interest in the planning of space, which he transposes into his paintings. According to him, geometric shapes are essential as they allow us to structure and bound our living world. The landscaped spaces, the second central element of his work, are elaborate with much more experimentation and without exact planning, leaving more space for imagination. Emanuel Schulze plays on the tension between the technical precision of architectural forms and the pictorial freedom of landscaped spaces.
