Contemporary artist Marie Louise Sorbac has been working with sculpture for many years and particularly animal sculptures. There are several different animals in her bronze bestiary ; bulls, birds, bears, lions or elephants.

Born in Buenos Aires of a French father and Argentine mother, Marie Louise Sorbac grew up with this double culture in a family boasting 3 generations of art collectors and decorators. Having completed her baccalauréat she initially set her sights for the Paris school of Beaux Arts but instead pursued a successful career in advertising. At the age of 50, Marie Louise Sorbac refocused on her creative side and sculpted her first work in clay, after which she trained in a local art workshop concentrating wholly on sculpture.

Now nearly fifteen years later, Marie Louise Sorbac regularly exhibits her work in galleries between Paris and Belgium, and in different contemporary art fairs; she has also had the opportunity to see her work on display in prestigious locations like UNESCO and the Argentine embassy. In 2015 she received the François Pompon award at the National Beaux Arts show in Paris.

Today, Marie Louise Sorbac is widely known for her artistic work in animal sculpture. Without even drawing them, she models the animals with such perfect proportions which quickly take shape thanks to a radically simple line. Minimalist and clearcut, Marie Louise Sorbac's horde of animals is none the least warm and touching. Each one with its own name, Pablo the bull, Serena the lioness, Prosper the bear and Valentin the elephant… All brought to life in very "domestic" dimensions, between 30 and 50 centimeters tall, they become more like daily companions than fixed figurines. The artist is often photographed amongst her animals, a friendly hand on the head of Patagonia or Prosper or even in a motherly hug. The bronze, patinated or polished with great skill, also bestows on these animals an elegance accompanying the simplicity of their outlines.
