Calligraphie et art contemporain : 3 questions \u00e0 Hongyu Zhang<\/p>

Trois artistes de la galerie ont choisi de puiser dans la calligraphie, art majeur de l\u2019Extr\u00eame-Orient et source de toutes les autres formes d\u2019expression, les ressources picturales et\/ou philosophiques qui alimentent aujourd\u2019hui leur pratique artistique. Nous avons d\u00e9cid\u00e9, \u00e0 travers une s\u00e9rie de trois articles, d\u2019interroger chacun d\u2019eux sur l\u2019origine et la nature de cette influence. <\/p>

N\u00e9 en 1981 en Mongolie int\u00e9rieure, Hongyu Zhang<\/a> arrive en France \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge de 23 ans pour poursuivre ses \u00e9tudes \u00e0 l\u2019\u00c9cole des Beaux Arts de Versailles. L\u2019apprentissage qu\u2019il a suivi aupr\u00e8s de son oncle lorsqu\u2019il \u00e9tait enfant lui vaut de ma\u00eetriser l\u2019art de la calligraphie et la peinture traditionnelle chinoise. Il est depuis toujours rest\u00e9 fid\u00e8le \u00e0 l\u2019encre de Chine, qu\u2019il utilise d\u00e9sormais conjointement aux mat\u00e9riaux et techniques de l\u2019art occidental. \u00ab\u00a0Je travaille avec les traits\u00a0\u00bb dit-il en \u00e9voquant cet h\u00e9ritage : \u00ab\u00a0chaque trait \u00e0 sa vie, et tous les traits \u2013 avec leur force, leur mouvement et leur rythme respectifs – composent un espace \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>

Quelle place occupent les techniques de la calligraphie chinoise dans votre travail ?<\/strong><\/p>

L\u2019influence de la calligraphie est l\u2019un des \u00e9l\u00e9ments les plus importants dans mon travail. J\u2019avais 7 ans lorsque j\u2019ai commenc\u00e9 mon apprentissage, en Mongolie, et elle repr\u00e9sente pour moi \u2013 avec l\u2019encre de Chine \u2013 l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ment le plus essentiel de la culture chinoise. Quand je r\u00e9alise un portrait, je trace chaque trait et donne chaque coup de pinceau en appliquant les principes de la calligraphie.<\/p>

<\/p>

Qu’est-ce qui vous int\u00e9resse dans les ressources expressives ou picturales de la calligraphie ?<\/strong><\/p>

La calligraphie est un art qui vise \u00e0 la concentration et \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9quilibre personnel. Elle ne r\u00e9side pas uniquement dans la repr\u00e9sentation de l\u2019aspect ext\u00e9rieur du sujet, mais \u00e9galement dans la capture de son essence intime.<\/p>

Comment vous \u00eates-vous appropri\u00e9 ces techniques ? Comment les avez-vous associ\u00e9es aux techniques de la peinture occidentale ?<\/strong><\/p>

Je m\u2019entra\u00eene souvent \u00e0 la calligraphie pour trouver l\u2019\u00e9quilibre du corps et de l\u2019esprit. Quand je l\u2019int\u00e8gre \u00e0 ma peinture, je me concentre sur chaque trait qui doit avoir une existence, une force et une esth\u00e9tique qui lui sont propres. Le trait est toujours l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ment le plus important dans mes cr\u00e9ations. J\u2019utilise toujours l\u2019encre de Chine associ\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019acrylique, au pastel, \u00e0 la peinture \u00e0 l\u2019huile etc. sur diff\u00e9rents supports dispos\u00e9s \u00e0 plat sur le sol : papier, toile, bois, carton etc.<\/p>
