La septi\u00e8me \u00e9dition du Jing’an International Sculpture Project (JISP) a ouvert ses portes le 20 septembre dernier. Depuis 2010 (date de la premi\u00e8re \u00e9dition, concomitante avec l’exposition universelle Expo 2010 Shanghai China<\/em>), cette biennale s’inscrit dans un projet visant \u00e0 constituer une collection permanente de sculptures en plein air dans le quartier de Jing’An, au centre de Shangha\u00ef.<\/p>

La manifestation est \u00e9galement scrut\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019international en tant que plateforme montrant les orientations les plus significatives prises par la sculpture comme champ de la cr\u00e9ation artistique.<\/p>

Le th\u00e8me de cette nouvelle \u00e9dition, \u00ab\u00a0Urban Public Space: Dimension, Emotion, Vitality\u00a0\u00bb (L’espace public urbain : Dimension, \u00e9motion, vitalit\u00e9), rassemble 28 artistes internationaux, 18 chinois et 18 \u00e9trangers, au travers de 42 \u0153uvres d\u2019art.<\/p>

L\u2019un des artistes s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s est Alejandro Vega Beuvrin<\/a> (Venezuela, 1979), repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 par Artistics. Apr\u00e8s des \u00e9tudes d\u2019architecture, Alejandro Vega Beuvrin s\u2019est tourn\u00e9 vers la sculpture \u00e0 laquelle il se consacre \u00e0 pr\u00e9sent depuis son studio de Barcelone, en Espagne. Ses cr\u00e9ations, compos\u00e9es de plaques de m\u00e9tal d\u00e9coup\u00e9es et assembl\u00e9es ensemble, t\u00e9moignent de ce parcours qui ne cesse d\u2019alimenter des questionnements en lien avec le plan (forme bidimensionnelle), l\u2019espace et leur interaction. Trois sculptures monumentales de la s\u00e9rie Barricada<\/em><\/a> sont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es dans le cadre du Jing’an International Sculpture Project : l\u2019une en bronze, l\u2019autre en acier Corten et la derni\u00e8re en acier inox.<\/p>

Parmi les autres artistes s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s se trouvent l\u2019Allemande Katinka Bock, nomm\u00e9e pour le prix Marcel-Duchamp en 2019, l\u2019Ecossais Jim Lambie, s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9 pour le prix Turner 2005, l\u2019Espagnol Juan Garaizabal ou le duo Elmgreen & Dragset dont le travail respectif a notamment \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 \u00e0 la Biennale de Venise (en 2013 pour le premier, en 2009 pour les seconds).<\/p>

Au-del\u00e0 de l\u2019exposition, les organisateurs ont aussi con\u00e7u une programmation m\u00ealant visites guid\u00e9es et ateliers, avec l\u2019objectif d\u2019encourager les habitants \u00e0 d\u00e9couvrir l\u2019art public et de le sensibiliser \u00e0 son interaction avec l\u2019environnement urbain. Ces activit\u00e9s participent aussi d\u2019un effort pour changer la perception de l\u2019art qui, pour beaucoup, reste associ\u00e9 au luxe et n\u2019est accessible que par un public restreint. Dans le m\u00eame esprit, la biennale a cette ann\u00e9e choisi d\u2019investir d\u2019autres lieux parmi lesquels un vieux quartier, une \u00e9cole et m\u00eame un march\u00e9 humide.<\/p>
