Small horse IV (Petit cheval IV) is a sculpture by French contemporary artist Pierre Yermia.  

This bronze sculpture represents a horse at a standstill, its back legs slightly stretched in a movement of resistance. It seems that the artist wanted to break with the classical representations of the animal, all in momentum and power. Pierre Yermia gives us here an almost fragile silhouette, in a look all in elegance and restraint.

Pierre Yermia's work is characterized by a very particular way of representing human and animal figures. Whether they are isolated or grouped figures, standing or lying down, or bulls, birds or felines, the artist always applies himself to give them body by lengthening their proportions until they reach a point of fragile equilibrium putting the sculpture in tension between stability and lightness.
