About the work :

Serendipity is an abstract sculpture by the French contemporary artist Romain Langlois.

This patinated bronze sculpture takes the heterogeneous form of an exploded rock whose different pieces are linked to an apparently liquid heart in the inner part of the rock. This dynamic work tends towards the surrounding space. The artist is toying with the ability of the viewer’s mind to conceive ideas and to self-represent them.

Serendipity refers to the idea of making a fortunate discovery. The liquid appearance of the centre of the piece symbolizes natural perpetual evolution, from which scientific endeavours emerge as well as aesthetic discoveries.

Romain Langlois’s sculptures seem to be made from discarded items, such as: motorway verge stones, old timbers and torn off tree trunks. But his pieces are more than mere reproductions and, far from recycling nature, they demonstrate his unbound ambition to give a new life to these natural elements.

The sculpture is available in a gold version and a black one.
