About the work :

Salle d’étude is an artwork by English contemporary photograph Gina Soden. It is part of the “How Long Is Now?” series.

Gina Soden is a fan of urban exploration and is fascinated by ruins and abandoned places. A true experience, Gina Soden's photographic work also bears witness to great poetry. She manages to restore the beauty these architectural places have lost. Certainly hazardous, her search for confidential places requires discretion and a real physical commitment and leads her to live extraordinary experiences.

She narrated the discovery of this place: "This beautiful fortified village in the north of France used to be a thriving 19th century commercial hub, but when I arrived on that warm summer afternoon, the town was practically empty and still. I had to climb over a small railing on the water’s edge to enter the Chateau. Once inside a dark and dusty adventure began - leading to this treasure, a huge array of dusty books, historical magazines and a beautiful display of silk flowers by the shuttered-up windows.”

This signed and numbered photograph is only available in a limited edition. This work is sold unframed. Dimensions shown include a 2cm white border.
