About the work :

Noosphere is a painting by the German contemporary artist Emanuel Schulze.

Oscillating between figuration and abstraction, this work of art represents architectural elements that stand in an enigmatic landscape. This painting immerses the spectator into a dreamlike universe devoid of human presence. Only a geometric edifice in the centre of the painting invites us to believe that this place could be inhabited. The central perspectives offer various viewpoints to admire this landscape and always look towards the horizon.

In order to give depth to this painting, the artist plays on its reflections. The geometric structures are reflected in an immense body of water and anchor themselves in the canvas to become, according to the artist, "islands of the landscape." Here, Emanuel Schulze works also on the harmony of the complementary colors, such as blue and orange, which balance the painting and give this composition its distinctiveness.

As far as Emanuel Schulze also is a stage designer, he takes a particular interest in the planning of space, which he transposes into his paintings. According to him, geometric shapes are essential as they allow us to structure and bound our living world. The landscaped spaces, the second central element of his work, are worked with much more experimentation and without exact planning, leaving more space for imagination. Emanuel Schulze plays on the tension between the technical precision of architectural forms and the pictorial freedom of landscaped spaces.
