About the work :

In line is a bronze sculpture by French artist Martine Demal, from the series Primary Forms.

Named after a childish design, this artwork has precise and rigorous rhythmic flow. On a bronze plinth, four slender figures follow each other in a symmetrical way, aiming to give the viewer the impression that an infinite number of them could follow on.

The body form is the poetical beginning and end points for Martine Demal. It is the artist's first inspiration and her first tool, where commitment and energy guarantee a sculpture’s creation.

If body forms are the primary influence of the artist’s creative process, the creation of the artwork is also motivated by a desire to satisfy a dynamic requirement that contrasts the sculpture’s stillness. Concern for accuracy and precision lead the artist's hands to seek a continual aesthetic improvement.

The indicated dimensions include the base of the sculpture, which is 11 cm H x 25 cm L x 6 cm D. Original artwork: the sculpture is signed and available in 8 editions and 4 artist’s proofs.
