Flight VII is a bronze sculpture by French contemporary artist Pierre Yermia. 

This bronze sculpture is of a bird about to fly. The bird, a celestial symbol, is still standing on its long legs, keeping a harmonious balance of grace and lightness.

The theme of flight came about during the artist’s research on ‘balance’. Here the wader’s graceful movement is portrayed with vigour and lightness. Their necks outstretched skywards, standing on long frail limbs, soar boldly, their wings graciously spread out. The dynamic and contrasting rhythms of their shapes gives an airy feel and creates a wide-open space.

The work of Pierre Yermia is characterized by a very particular way of representing human and animal figures. Whether they are isolated or group characters, standing or lying, bulls, birds or felines, the artist always create a representation by lengthening their proportions to reach a point of fragile balance. There is thus in his sculptures a tension between stability and lightness.
