Drawing Avenue is a limited edition artist's book by Guillaume Chansarel featuring 247 drawings of New York, each depicting a crossroad on Brodway avenue. The preface is signed by acclaimed French author Frédéric Beigbeder. Each of the 247 copies is numbered and signed by the artist and comes with a 29,7 x 42 cm original drawing. 

“New York is my vitamin tube" declared Guillaume Chansarel. In June 2017, he travelled Broadway from one end to the other, starting at the Bronx. At each corner, he stopped to sketch, trying to capture the essence of the place, to catch an emotion with the same spontaneity and speed to take a selfie. The artist wanted to take on the city’s rhythm, to make "an intravenous shot of New York". His project: to depict all the famous Manhattan avenue crossroads in 7 days. To that end, he imposed travel and time constraints: 3 kilometres and 35 drawings, a day. This artistic exercise doubled as a sporting exercise! Back in Paris, he revisited each drawing, reworking all the inking, adding detail, revitalizing the perspectives and coloring them.

This true work of art is the result of a year’s work, from the initial drawings to finishing the book. Its pages takes you into the heart of Manhattan, along the 22 kilometres of its most mythical artery. Colombus Circle, Times Square, Wall Street… The scenes unfold over the 516 pages of this imposing volume covering all the familiar sights of the American megalopolis, from yellow cabs to giant screens hanging from skyscrapers.… By sticking to his rhythm, Guillaume Chansarel seems able to tame the reputedly indomitable city, whilst at the same time giving us another point of view on its cityscapes.
