d0518-2 is an artwork by contemporary artist Ahn Hyun-Ju from the series Farbfluss, which is a German word for "running colors".

In this series of abstract paintings, the artist is exploring the pictorial possibilities of her preferred support: three dimensional aluminum structures.

The first paintings of the series were marked by the contrast between the natural dripping of the paint and the perfectly mastered monochromatic flat color shapes.  An evolution emerges in the most recent paintings:  drippings and flats are superimposed and mixed up ; transparent effects and the traces left by the tools used to apply the paint make visible the paintings’ different stages of development as well as the artist's movement (an ample movement, sometimes straight, sometimes curling).

Ann Hyun-Ju's work bears the mark of her training in both painting and sculpture. The artist paints onto three dimensional aluminum supports and occasionally goes beyond the traditional limits of the stretcher (square or rectangular) to explore new shapes. Experimentation is at the very heart of her approach and is a part of every aspect of her craft: supports, shapes, materials (she mixes pigments together with acrylic paints), color association… her abstract paintings, of which one can guess an influence of 1960s and 1970s American minimalism, refutes any metaphorical language and all narrative intentions. They are a part of a pure aesthetic quest that the artist qualifies as follows: "What I am trying to do is translate my aesthetic ideas into a pictorial language."
