About the work :

Cube 3  is a clay sculpture by contemporary artist Sharon Brill.

The artist conducts a formal study in challenging movement as an abstract and elusive notion against a geometric figure’s firm stability. The notion of movement is viewed from the artwork’s internal point of view, as well as from an external point of view: that of the onlooker.

The cube therefore turns out to be the research’s spatial framework, as well as the point of reference where the motion originates. The opposition of form and disorder creates a space in which notions of symbiosis and separability connect giving way to an aesthetic reflection.

Her ceramic sculptures often stand in the hollow of both hands, so that we can feel the sensuality of their bare surface. Their matt and perfectly smooth surface leads us into a permanent back-and-forth between the inside and the outside, the visible and the invisible. Each observer can find a call to introspection: the sculpture is then transformed into a white screen, on which images of our inner world are projected.

This artwork is a one-off piece, delivered with its certificate of authenticity.
