Cell is a ceramic sculpture by contemporary artist Tien Wen.

This abstract and minimalist artwork first appeals by the simplicity and the elegance of its vertical shape. The narrowed base of the sculpture and the round shape carved in its center convey harmony and sobriety enhanced by the glossy effect of the lighter part.

For this Asian artist, who creates uncompromised abstract works: “The sculpture exists by the form and the line, with the fragile balance of the material, it is a minimalist work, the artworks are simple and pure. I turn and return the material until the line tells me I can stop.” The use of the Raku technique (an enameling technique from Japan) allows Tien Wen to create terracotta sculptures characterized by a cracked surface and a plain and refined aesthetics. This artwork counts the white of the enamel and the black of the iron oxides obtained by smoking process.
