Bajo Fisherman (Large) is an artwork by French contemporary sculptor Marine de Soos. This bronze sculpture is from the “Fisherman” series. This figurative artwork represents a bare-chested young man sitting, fishing. He is wearing a hat and is concentrated on the task. He is a Badjo, a population from South East Asia, whose lifestyle and daily activities revolve around the sea. The artist gets her inspiration from real or imaginary scenes. This bronze large-scale sculpture could be placed in an outside setting.

Marine de Soos has long sustained an openness to the world which permeates her career and her work. For each sculpture the artist draws her inspiration from her souvenirs, those of African and Asian landscapes. Whatever the initial image, there is always an emotion attached: "I can only work when I am in an emotional state," says the artist. Emotion as sole guide and at the finish line, an invitation on a voyage steeped in a unique poetry which sends the observer into a state of contemplation.
