About the work :

Arcangelo is an artwork by English contemporary photograph Gina Soden. It is part of the “How Long Is Now?” series.

Gina Soden is a fan of urban exploration and is fascinated by ruins and abandoned places. A true experience, Gina Soden's photographic work also bears witness to great poetry. She manages to restore the beauty these architectural places have lost. Certainly hazardous, her search for confidential places requires discretion and a real physical commitment and leads her to live extraordinary experiences.

She narrated the discovery of this place: “An incredibly decorative Villa from the 1700’s, which had been semi-restored to its former glory but that is still waiting to welcome new lives and memories. A very well-known Italian composer was born nearby here. The fresco depicts the archangel Gabriel chasing Lucifer away. This was a run across open parkland and blatant entry into a basement, with neighbouring erratic barking dogs who could see and sense us, so I was completely on edge. This place was surrounded by no more than 20 houses in this tiny village, and I was rather paranoid of getting caught so shortly after getting this shot, I sat down on the chair pictured here trying to stay calm while my partner explored the rest of the villa.”

This signed and numbered photograph is only available in a limited edition. This work is sold unframed. Dimensions shown include a 2cm white border.
