About the work :

Aerial Views, Boneyard 003 is a photograph by German contemporary artist Bernhard Lang from the series Boneyard.

The photographer takes us to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona, the largest aircraft and missile facility in the world. 4,000 planes are stationed here in 2,600 acres of desert, particularly suitable for storage thanks to the very low humidity limiting metal corrosion, and the very hard ground, preventing even the largest planes from sinking in. Cargo planes, bombers and fighter jets as well as commercial and civilian aircraft are all neatly lined up and grouped by type; some will be recycled, others abandoned, a few could still fly. The photographs of the aircraft graveyard, characterized by very striking symmetries, are impressive.

Since 2010, Bernhard Lang has been doing aerial photography. He has travelled the world in search of landscapes strongly scarred by man’s imprint, which he photographs from aerial viewpoints using a ultra-light plane or a helicopter. Seen from the sky, these panoramas look almost like abstract paintings. Firmly in the field of contemporary art, his work seeks to incite thoughts on the environment whilst also giving aesthetic pleasure.

Limited edition prints from this series are available in four formats, all signed by the artist and numbered. The price indicated applies solely to the print, unmounted and unframed. For all specific requests regarding the mount and/ or the frame please contact us.
