About the work :

A second 1 is a piece by the Chinese contemporary artist, Hongyu Zhang.

This artwork is quite unique in the artist's portfolio: the characteristic figures and portraits in his artworks are changed into distant silhouettes, that seem to blend in with the metallic background. However, the line is always the main theme of his work: "I work with lines" he says. “Each line has a life, and all together – with their respective strength, movement and rhythm, they make up an energetic space.

Hongyu Zhang's painting has its roots in calligraphy, traditional Chinese painting and maintains a preference for Indian ink, which he still uses today with different techniques to explore new creative styles. This artwork, halfway between figurative and abstract, is the result of a creative process that combines pastel, Indian ink, acrylic and engraving.

The artwork is signed and sold with a certificate of authenticity. The specified dimensions do not include the frame. Dimensions of the framed artwork: 97 x 65 cm
